Idea #1: draw or cut out many fish pictures and paste them on card stock. Hide them in places that you know he/she will look but are still hidden, i.e. the refrigerator, pockets, attached to the toothpaste tube, lamp switches, etc. so that he or she will be 'fishing' the whole day. Put the last fish somewhere he or she will look last (on pillows, under sheets) and write something like "of all the fishes in the sea, I'm glad that you're the one for me." Idea #2: I'm an art major, but my boyfriend is a botany chemistry major and a big part of our relationship is enjoying each others interests. I researched his favorite plant (orchids) and bought him one for his birthday. Not only did he get a new plant but we were able to really talk about something he is so passionate about. On his side, one of my most prized possessions is a small drawing he did of the two of us that I carry around in my wallet. It's extra special since he's not at all artistic. Idea #3: It's silly, but even though my boyfriend doesn't wear cologne he always manages to smell terrific. Last time I was down I swiped one of his slightly worn but not gross smelly t-shirts from the laundry (with permission of course). When I got home I used it as a pillowcase. It’s great to have something to snuggle with when I miss him. Idea #4: When in doubt, mix tapes! Our tastes in music are extremely opposite but I made a tape for in the car of alternate songs - one of his, one of mine, one of his and so on. This saves our sanity on road trips or even just going to the store since their isn't any fighting over the radio station or a crazy mess of loose CDs and tapes. |
