Before our first anniversary, my wife and I decided that we would take turns planning our yearly celebration. We agreed on a budget, but other than that, we each had free reign over planning the annual event. We also determined that every third year we would plan the anniversary jointly and spend a little more and go somewhere our typical budget would not afford. On the years we are planning the anniversary alone, we try to keep the details secret until a few days before the event. Of course, if it involves time off from work, we do let our spouse arrange those days off in advance.
Because our anniversary nearly always falls on Memorial Day Weekend, we get to plan for at least a three-day celebration. Usually, we are able to get away for the entire time, but if not, we would plan to do something special each day during that long weekend. After all, it is not only the anniversary of our wedding day, but also of our honeymoon.
If your anniversary is getting to be like a tired cliché, add some spark to it by taking turns planning a creative, romantic and fun-filled Marriage celebration.
